The Tigrai Democratic Solidarity Party (Simret) is a progressive political movement born from the collective aspirations of the Tigrayan people for self-determination, democracy, and lasting peace.

Founded in the wake of the 2020-2022 Tigray War, Simret represents a new generation of Tigrayan leadership committed to democratic values, social justice, and the reconstruction of our homeland. We stand as a bridge between Tigray's proud history and its democratic future.

Milestones in Tigray's Democratic Struggle

October 2020

Initial Vision

Initial discussions began among democratic activists and intellectuals about forming a new political alternative for Tigray.

March 2021

Founding Principles Established

Core democratic principles and organizational framework were developed by the founding committee.

September 2022

Official Launch

First organizational meeting held virtually with 27 founding members across 8 countries, officially launching Simret.

February 2023

Diaspora Expansion

Established chapters in North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East to coordinate international support.

June 2024

Humanitarian Efforts Launched

Launched comprehensive relief programs for war-affected communities across Tigray.
